McKenzie County Farm & Ranch Show Opens Feb. 3-5

The McKenzie County Ag Expo, Watford City, ND, will host their annual Farm & Ranch Show Feb. 4-5. They will have vendors representing local equipment dealers, ag lenders, livestock supply businesses, and a variety of agricultural needs. Tuesday, the event will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The event is free to the public.

On Tuesday, Ryan Odenbach will welcome attendees and vendors at 9 a.m. The McKenzie County NDSU Extension office has brought together a selection of speakers on topics important to the producers of our region. Starting the event is a rancher panel discussing "McKenzie County Grazing Challenges". At 9:30 a.m., Temple Grandin will be speaking on "Cattle Handling Facility Design". Kevin Sedivec will cover "Grazing Management Techniques" at 11 a.m., with the free lunch provided by United Quality to follow. United Quality will have an Arrowquip Cattle Handling demo at 12 p.m. Miranda Meehan will give her presentation on "Virtual Grazing Concepts" at 1 p.m., with Temple Grandin speaking again at 2:10 p.m .; this time on "Humane Livestock Handling". Tim Petry will give the 2025 Livestock Outlook at 3:10 p.m., and United Quality will close the day with another Arrowquip Cattle Handling Demo at 4 p.m.

Wednesday will start again with a welcome from Ryan Odenbach at 9 a.m., and features "Bull Days"; where producers showcase their herd genetics with select bulls and their offspring. Brian Jenks will be the first of the NDSU Extension speakers, with his talk on "Managing Today's Weeds" at 9:05 a.m. County Crop Elections will take place at 10 a.m. Ryan Odenbach will share "Cover Crops for McKenzie County" at 10:30 a.m. Mary Keena will discuss "Composting & Cropland Manure Applications" at 11 a.m., with the free lunch provided by Lund Oil to follow. After lunch, Chandler Gruener will speak on "MC Soil Health Perspectives". At 2:10 p.m., Mike Jenks and Austin Patten, Helena Ag, will give their "2025 Fertilization & Chemical Outlook". A "Cropping Panel" at 3:10 p.m. will end the NDSU Extension's educational contributions to the Farm & Ranch Show.
