The Richland Ranger Bantams traveled to Bismarck, ND, this past weekend for the Capitals Cup. After five games the Bantams returned home undefeated and champions!
Friday night the Rangers faced West Fargo Stampeded and got their 1st shutout of the tournament winning 14-0.
Saturday, the Bantams had two games. Their game against the Bismarck Capitals-White would bring them a commanding victory ending with a score of 11-2. Next up they found themselves matched against the Devils Lake Flames and secured their second shutout win of 9.0 taking them to the semifinals.
Sunday, the Bantams had another two games. Bright and early, they faced Jamestown Valley City Prowl for the semifinal matchup where the Rangers secured their 3rd shutout of the tournament with a score of 8-0. The second game on Sunday was for the championship. Here, the Bantams found themselves face to face with Grand Forks Red. The Rangers came out in full force and skated their way to an 11-2 win, making them Champions of the tournament.
Success in hockey comes from skill, hard work, determination and teamwork. Last season, it was said that the Richland Ranger Bantams team was a force to be reckoned with, well it looks to me that this small but mighty group of 2 young ladies and 9 young men want to make sure that holds true this season as well.
United Hockey said it best in - "It's not how big you are, it's how big you play"
Next up for the Bantams is four home games:
Jan. 17 at 5 p.m. vs. Minot
Jan. 18 at 9 a.m. vs. Bismarck – Red
Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. vs. Bismarck – White
Jan. 19 at 8 a.m. vs Bismarck – Blue
Please come out and support all the Rangers!
