8-Year-Old Watford City Girl Donates Steer To Local Food Pantry

Eight-year-old Ella Taylor is a lot like other kids in Watford City, she loves the farm and the animals. But unlike her older brother, Jett, 14, and her 11-year-old sister, Piper, Ella is a Cloverbud and wasn't old enough to sell animals in 4-H yet. Her brother and sister show steers at the McKenzie County Fair. Ella has always watched from the sidelines, waiting for the day she will be a part of it too.

Last spring, Ella got a surprise from her grandparents. When they calving season came around, they gave her a bottle calf. Ella was excited and she named the calf Bebe. She took charge and took care of him as often as she could. As the colder air approached, Ella and her parents had a decision to make. They asked Ella what she would like to do. They had heard of a need at the local food pantry. Ella decided to donate him and she thought it would be the best place to help those in need. Ella said "I'm happy to know that Bebe will give good food to families in need at Christmas time"!

Her parents, Luke and Courtney and neighbors CJ and Calli Thorne, own and operate USDA inspected Yellowstone River Beef in Williston and Yellowstone provided the processing. The Taylor family and their young daughter Ella, along with Yellowstone River Beef have certainly shown us what the spirit of giving at the holidays truly means.

A special thank you to them and may the blessings of the holiday also be with their family.
