Fairvew Wins 2nd Straight State Football Title

State Champions. Who? Fairview. Fair-who? Fairview!

The Fairview Warriors completed another dream season by overpowering Belt for the second year in a row 27-6. The Warriors took the opening kickoff and marched it down the field with Wyatt McPherson capping the drive off with a 2-yard touchdown run.

After a defensive stop, Tyler Loan exploded for a 65-yard touchdown extending the lead to 14-0 in the first. As it turned out, that is all the points the Warriors would need as their defense came to play on this day. Belt scored on their opening drive in the third period aided by a 4th down pass interference call. They couldn't add the 2-point play making the score 14-6. Fairview answered with an exciting defensive touchdown as McPherson picked up a fumble at midfield and raced to the end zone extending the lead to 20-6. Loan added the exclamation point with two minutes left in the game breaking free for a 43-yard touchdown pushing the lead to 27-6. The Warrior defense flexed again on the last drive securing their 5th fourth down stop in the quarter to close out the game.

Loan rushed for 216 yards on 18 carries and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, Loan led the team with 17 tackles with Deacon Gackle and Wyatt McPherson adding 14 tackles each. Keegan Skogas had 11 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Gavin Callender added an interception, and several passes defended.

The Warriors extended their winning streak to 25 games to go along with their back-to-back championships.
