The third in the highly collectible ornament collection by Jeremy Dean is now available! Once again, the stunning ornament features an iconic landmark in Fairview.
"Bank of Fairview" was located on the Montana side of Interstate Avenue (State Street) and organized in 1907 by Thomas C. Gardner, Ira M. Alling, Walter K. Adams, Charles J. Hardy and F. M. Schaefer. In 1917, Charles J. Hardy was president and that year deposits were $142,660.96. A beautiful two-story brick building on the corner of Ellery Avenue and 4th Street was its new location in 1917. Opening day was Oct. 6, which oddly was a Saturday.
The total cost of the new building was $25,000. Sadly, to great surprise, this bank closed its doors in 1924. Through the years, this building has housed many different businesses including another bank, Fairview Bank and the Post Office. To this day, the building is still eye-catching driving through town."
Purchase your ornaments at Merchants Bank, Powder Keg and Neu's Super Valu in Fairview or The Roundup in Sidney for just $15. Ornaments will also be for sale at the Silver Bells Craft Show Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Fairview High School.
