Join in the fun on Dec. 5 at the Eastern Montana Polar Plunge from 5-7 p.m. at the Sidney Elks Lodge.
The Polar Plunge is a Law Enforcement Torch Run signature event. It was first held in 1999 in Whitefish, MT, and is an opportunity for individuals, clubs, and organizations to support the Special Olympics Montana athletes. The plunge has grown into 14 communities across the state with over 11,000 participants raising over $350,000 annually for Special Olympics Montana. The mission of the special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and athletes with intellectual disabilities. This gives the athletes an opportunity for physical fitness, learning new skills, and a chance to experience friendship while competing.
This is the first year that the Polar Plunge is an exclusive event for the day. Watch as law enforcement and Special Olympic athletes take the plunge into icy waters for a worthy cause. There will be a free-will feed offered by Richland Opportunities, Inc. and the Sidney Police Department will have jumpers from all walks of life to help support our special Oympic athletes!
The Plunge will be held on the street in front of the Elks Lodge BPOE 1782 this year. Please nominate a jumper to support this cause today! The cost to nominate is $50. Give the Chamber a call 406-433-1916 or stop down to the City Hall and we will get your nomination on the list. Nominees will have the option of matching your donation or they will have to take the plunge.
