Greetings From Sidney Kiwanis

Sidney Kiwanis Club has had a busy year as usual serving the children of our community. “Kids Need Kiwanis!”

Our fiscal year began October 1, 2023, with newly installed officers: President, Elaine Stedman; 1st Vice President, Jessica Chamberlin; Second Vice President, Bree Shanks; Secretary/Treasurer, Tami Christensen; and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, Jessica Chamberlin.

October featured our traditional apple/pear fundraiser. Throughout the year, Kiwanis members take tickets at Sidney High School sporting events, beginning with football and volleyball and continuing through basketball and volleyball seasons. Our annual pie social was held in July and featured brats, hamburgers, and, of course, delicious pies of all sorts. Kiwanis also mans the people mover during the Richland County Fair. All of these projects provide funds for the Club to support various youth initiatives throughout the community.

Kiwanis partners with Boys & Girls Club to provide warm winter gear for children in Richland County throughout the cold winter months. Last winter over 200 children and families received free winter outerwear, and the distribution began early with the largest snowstorm of the winter season occurring in October. Kiwanis also serves lunches at the Boys & Girls Club on Fridays for two months during the school year and for a week during the Club’s summer camps.

Other youth projects supported by the Sidney Kiwanis Club include MBI lunches for excelling students at West Side and Central Schools, Richland County Youth Rodeo, LEGO Club, swim passes for Boys & Girls Club members, scholarships for graduating Key Club seniors, and Sidney school’s music department, to mention a few. We also deliver Meals on Wheels several times during the course of the year.

The Kiwanis Club also serves as the umbrella organization for K-Family youth organizations. These include Key Club (high school), Builders Club (middle school), and K-Kids (elementary).

I have had the privilege of serving Division 5 (Sidney, Glendive, Miles City) as Lt. Governor the past several years and will be serving this year as Governor Elect for the Montana District.

The past 100 years have provided many services to our community. We look forward to continuing to serve the children of our community for years to come. My goals for the 2025 fiscal year is to grow our membership and to discover more ways to serve our community.

- Elaine Stedman, Club President
