Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Savage, MT with Pastor Tim Tharp officiating. Visitation will be Thursday October 31, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Fulkerson Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Sidney, MT. Harvey will be laid to rest in the Riverview Cemetery in Savage, MT. A luncheon will follow at the church for a time of fellowship and sharing. Harvey Ruben Hamburg was born to parents Ruben and Marie (Scheetz) Hamburg in Sidney, MT on December 19, 1936. He was one of five children. They grew up in the Savage and Sidney area. He worked on the family farm and then graduated in 1954 from Sidney High School. He joined the Army National Guard in 1957 until he was honorably discharged in 1964.
In 1957 he met the love of his life Kay Hagler, and they were married on February 23, 1958. In January of 1959 he went to work at MDU Lewis and Clark Station in Sidney where he was an operator for twenty years and a yard foreman for 20 years. He then retired in 1999.
In 1974 they moved the family from Sidney to Savage, MT where they raised three children. Kay passed away on March 15, 2015. Harvey continued to live in their home until 2022 when he moved into the Savage Sunrise Manor until the time of his death.
He was an active member of the UCC Church in Savage. He was also a member of the Savage Senior Citizens. His hobbies included wood working, taking care of his yard which included lots of mowing time which he loved. He also loved riding his 4-wheeler through the countryside (Sometimes a little too fast).
Harvey peacefully passed away on Friday October 25, 2024, at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, MT surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by daughter Sherri (Gary) Dardis, of Savage, MT, daughter Lynette (John) Hoon, Savage, MT, son Patrick (Dee) Hamburg, Savage, MT; sisters Verna Davis, Littleton, CO, Karen (Tom) Marker, Magnolia, TX, MaryJane (Stan) Helgeson, Billings, MT; sister-in-law Joanne Hagler, Savage, MT; seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kay, and his brother Jim Hamburg.
The family asks that memorials be donated in Harvey's name to the Savage Senior Citizens and Savage Sunrise Manor.
