Page Turners To Host Mackenzie Hill Book Signing Oct. 19

Mackenzie Hill, a young author originally from Phoenix but now residing in Sidney, will sign copies of her debut book, "The Court of Ivory Feathers" at Page Turners, Fairview, from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The theme of this fantasy novel is learning to find the courage in yourself to overcome your fears. It is based on a girl who found normalcy in the most toxic and bloodiest village in Wylana. When she gets selected as a blood bride, she flees with her fiance' only to be betrayed. She is whisked away by the cruel and harsh prince Atticus whose immortal dragon idea shapes the entire court. Now she is forced to get along with him and fulfill a prophecy she has never heard of.

Hill said writing the book helped her heal from trauma in her own life. Her dad, who she found just a few years before he passed away from cancer, is Archibald in the book, while Hill is Hazel. "I'm grateful for the time I had with him, even though it was short," she said. "I needed closure." When Hazel is talking at her mother's grave, the ghost gives her the answers Hill needed to hear from her father. She said her real dad did tell her, "Never let anyone tell you what you can and can't do with your dreams."

Hill said that when she first moved to Sidney, she had no internet which gave her the opportunity to reconnect with reading. She read 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' by Sarah J. Maas, which skyrocketed her into what she does now. Cos playing on TikTok led her to meet another author who encouraged her to write her book. She is excited to introduce the book and herself to area readers.

Page Turners is located at 214 S. Central Ave., Fairview. If you are unable to attend the book signing, call 406-742-5700, email them at [email protected] or follow them on Facebook to reserve a signed copy of 'The Court of Ivory Feathers'.
