The JR ad AJ Gallagher family moved to Sidney in 2021 to be closer to AJ's family. They love this community and knew they wanted to settle down and raise their family here. They feel so blessed to have been able to purchase land that her grandparents, Louie and Charlotte Anvik, originally owned over 30 years ago and has been passed down through the family. They are nestled among the Anvik and Johnson families---right where they want to be!
After purchasing the land, they got to work building their home. They broke ground in April 2023 and moved into the home in May 2024. When not working at his full-time job, JR spent every spare moment working on their house and with the help of family and friends, it was move-in ready in 14 months. "This was such a great project," stated Brenda Larson. "It was so heartwarming to see so many people come together and have such a good time to help build this home for this wonderful family!"
The exterior of the house features clean, crisp white steel siding that contrasts nicely with the dark metal roof. A front porch will soon grace the entire front, where they can enjoy the views of our beautiful Yellowstone Valley. It will be the perfect place to sit and relax!
Upon entering the home, one first notices the vaulted ceiling and tall walls that display a few of JR's treasures that reflect his passion for hunting. "Someday, a fireplace will also go on that wall", stated AJ. The area is an open concept which is perfect for family living and entertaining.
Directly off from the spacious living and dining area is the large, yet efficient, kitchen with soaring 9' cabinets. "We don't have a basement, so we wanted to use every inch of storage available!" The kitchen features knotty alder cabinets and quartz countertops and additional storage solutions in each cabinet, including adjustable rollout shelving of various depths, recycling and a swing-up mixer shelf. The enormous 11' island provides ample counterspace and seating for many. The sesame-stained cabinets and white quartz are grounded beautifully by the light-colored plank floor that is throughout the living area.
Off from the kitchen is an enormous walk-in pantry, laundry and utility room. On the same end of the home is the master suite, featuring a large walk-in closet bath and office. On the opposite side of the house are 3 good-sized bedrooms, each with large closets and an additional bathroom. "This is a well-thought-out plan," Brenda Larson said. "It is perfect for family living."
AJ noted, "My favorite part of the house is the open kitchen and living area. There's nothing better than having family over and watching the kids play while we are cooking in the kitchen."
She also stated that there a still a few projects to work on, once JR is rested up, including an attached garage, front porch, fireplace, kitchen hood and top moldings. However, as long as they are there, living together, there is no real rush.
When asked about the building experience, she also mentioned, "I don't think we would have done anything differently. We went into this build knowing there would be hiccups along the way, but overall, everything went smoothly. We couldn't have done it without our AMAZING family that showed up for us and now we get to raise our beautiful girls out here next to their cousins! And, how lucky are they to grow up in a house their daddy built, on land that their great-grandpa owned?!?"
