VFW Hosts Annual Poppy Drive

VFW Post and Auxiliary #4099 is currently hosting its annual Poppy Drive with the iconic Buddy Poppies available for a donation at the post, 124 2nd Ave., NE, Sidney.

Since 1927, when the Buddy Poppy name was registered with the U.S. Patent Office, it has represented the blood shed by American military service members and reminds us of their sacrifice.

The poppies are assembled by disabled and needy veterans in VA medical facilities. Proceeds from the program provide compensation for those veterans, provide financial assistance in maintaining state and national veteran’s rehab and service programs, and partially support the VFW National Home for Children.
