Over 200 people participated in the 7th annual Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Veterans' Park in Sidney.
Reynolds Market was the team that raised the most funds this year and they had the honor of leading the walk. Reynolds goal was to raise $11,000 and they were able to raise $11,050 all thanks to their loyal customers who donated in May during mental health month, and again in September. "Our customers were amazing and a big thank you goes out to our cashiers for promoting the fundraising campaign", said Reynolds Marketing Director Libby Berndt.
The Rush on Wheels was also at the event and were walking for team Kyle. One dollar of every coffee bought was donated to the event.
Nick Kallem and his dedicated team would like to thank their sponsors: Reynolds Market, Hurley Enterprise, Guardian Flight, Oneok, Sidney Health Center, Northwest Pipe Fittings Inc., Tri County Implement, and Continental Resources.
Individual teams that raised over $500 were: Reynolds Market, Dare to Rise, Fighting Darkness, Team Blake, and Team Todd.
This year, the Eastern Montana Out of the Darkness Walk raised almost $30,000 for the prevention of suicide. "Thank you, Eastern Montana for your continued support to raise hope and awareness that suicide is preventable," said Nick Kallem.
