Join in the fun from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 as Rathbun Equipment Services expresses its heartfelt appreciation for your support, and celebrates its first anniversary. Rathbun will have pancakes ready at 8 a.m. and will serve up lunch as well. A food truck will also be on site for those who don't like his cooking! He is very excited to have the Sidney VFW do the flag raising at 10 a.m. Register for door prizes and join in some fun games.
For the past year, Rathbun Equipment Services LLC, Fairview, has been providing much needed repair services to farmers in the area. Owner Will Rathbun says he works mostly on John Deere equipment but will work on anything. With his extensive tooling, he repairs engines, power trains, hydraulics, electronics and more. His only limitation is new technology that requires proprietary dealer software. He also does some truck repair, mostly for farmers who have had equipment repairs done. "They're repeat customers, I must be doing something right," Rathbun said. He provides both in-house and mobile service to customers in Daniels, Roosevelt and Richland counties in Montana plus Williams and McKenzie counties in North Dakota.

Rathbun grew up in Hingham, MT, where he graduated high school, then went off to college to get a degree in diesel mechanics with the plan of returning to farm with his dad. An internship and ensuing job offer from a company in Washington changed his career trajectory and he spent the next 20 years in the equipment industry in mechanics, sales and management. Upon his return to Montana, he spent three years in ag sales in Williston but became frustrated with the little guy (customer) being left behind and decided to open his own business to serve them. He lives in Bainville with his wife, Munee, and has a 22-year-old daughter, Allison.
Rathbun is anticipating growing into the retail side of his business. To help him determine which products are most needed, attendees are asked to submit their ideas in the suggestion box at the Open House.
