Sidney Eagle Golf Team Hosts Dual & Tournament

The Sidney Eagle varsity golf team hosted the top ranked team in the state, the Laurel Locomotives, for a dual on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Due to lightning, thunder, rain, and winds the players were called off the course twice, and therefore play was suspended for the day.

Only two Sidney players were able to finish all 18 holes. Brady Collins came in first place for the Eagles golfing a 76 and Tanner Tiesen came in second golfing an 88. With nine-hole scores only, due to weather, Caleb Price and Jared Anderson both shot a 42, Blake Johnson shot a 45, and Beckett Norby shot a 47.

The Laurel Locomotives did not field a girls' team so the Lady Eagles played stroke play instead of match play. The girls were also called off the course due to weather, so their scores were nine holes only. Izzy Baisch shot a 48, Zayda Wesley shot a 50, Mercedes Lamb shot a 51, McKenna Tiesen shot a 56, and Danica Denowh shot a 62.

Total points for the dual were Sidney 5.5 and Laurel 12.5. Laurel won the match play.

On the very windy day of Friday, Sept.13, the Eagle golf team hosted the Sidney Invitational at the Sidney Country Club.

The boys' varsity team placed third overall. They were led by Brady Collins, who tied for second place shooting a 78. Kalen Price tied for sixth shooting an 82, Tanner Tiesen shot an 87, Jared Anderson shot an 89, and Blake Johnson shot a 100. For the boys' JV team Matt Savage and Dresden Wesley shot an 89, Connor Price shot a 92, Beckett Norby shot a 101, Rylan Johnson shot a 105, Grayson Morrill shot a 112, Jade Stefen shot a 116, and Eli Lonski shot a 138.

The girls' varsity team took third place overall led by Izzy Baisch, who placed fourth overall shooting a 96. Mercedes Lamb placed seventh overall shooting a 98, Zeta Wesley shot a 125, and Danica Denowh shot a 132. For the girls' junior varsity team, Mylie Josephson and Peyton Bauer each shot a 138, Cambree Denowh and Brynn Halvorson shot a 140.

The regular golf season wraps up with tournaments in Billings on Thursday, Sept. 19 and Laurel on Friday, Sept. 20.
