The Fairview Warriors travelled to Culbertson Friday night to play the #8-ranked Cowboys.
Fairview scored first with a short pass from Tyler Loan to Deacon Gackle for an 8-yard TD. Culbertson answered with a score of their own, but the PAT was blocked by Keegan Skogas making the score 7-6 in favor of the Warriors. Loan and Gackle connected again for a 28-yard touchdown with Gackle outjumping the defender in the end zone to make a spectacular catch.
The first quarter ended with the Warriors up 14-6. The second quarter saw the momentum switch to Culbertson as Loan threw an interception that was returned for a TD and after a 4th down stop, the Cowboys scored again to take an 18-14 lead. Fairview responded with a 7-yard run by Loan to take a 21-18 lead and scored again right before half on great execution of a screen pass from Loan to Wyatt McPherson for 20 yards.
The halftime score was 27-18 Warriors. The Warriors scored on a McPherson 5-yard run in the third quarter and added two more runs by Loan in the fourth quarter making it 33 unanswered points. The final score was 47-18.
Keegan Skogas added a blocked punt and 9 total tackles to his earlier blocked PAT. It's Homecoming week in Fairview as they play Broadus on Friday night.
