Gary Schoepp, Action Auto and Eagle Country Ford car dealer, Sidney, said he was totally amazed when pictures of he and his wife, Karen, started to appear on the screen at the Montana Auto Dealers Association (MADA) meeting in Helena Saturday, Aug. 17. That segment of the banquet involved the presentation of the Eagle Award. As more and more photos appeared, it gradually dawned on him that he was this year's recipient of the prestigious award. "It really took me aback," Schoepp said. "It was a complete surprise. It is an awesome honor to receive this kind of award from my fellow auto dealers."
Sponsored by Assurant Dealer Services, the award winner is chosen by the MADA. The beautiful Eagle Award statuette is "In recognition of your soaring achievement 2024." The MADA stated that 'this award goes out to a dealer that exemplifies what it means to give back not only to their family, their business, but also their communities. Gary is someone who is a selfless leader and above all things, cares about those around him. Thank you, Gary for creating not only a legacy in your community, but changing the lives and legacies of those around you.' MADA executive director Bruce Knudsen explained that the award is not about how many vehicles are sold, but about being an exemplary person. "Gary is beyond cool," he said.
When Gary Schoepp joins an organization, he becomes actively involved in the everyday workings of that organization. He served on the Sidney School board for nine years, has been a very active Kiwanian for over 40 years including a term as president, served on the Sidney Chamber of Commerce board and did everything from ticket taking to painting walls at the office, has been a member of Richland Economic Development since its inception and is a past president, a strong supporter of the Richland County Fair & Rodeo, just to name a few.
Schoepp is pleased and humble about the award. "We need to be part of the community," he said simply. "This community, our community, has hundreds of opportunities to get involved. What we all need to do is get involved, just do it! Make someone's life a bit better, including your own."
Congratulations Gary. The honor is well deserved!
