Alexander's Old Settler's Day Set For Aug. 29-31

Alexander will be holding their 79th Annual Old Settler's Day Aug. 29-31, 2024. This year's honorees are Harold and Myrna Monson.

Events start Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. with the Color Run/Walk. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. at the east side of the park. Anyone wishing to participate can contact Brittni Hatter at 970-682-0388. The bonfire to begin the roasting of the beef is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

The Chili Cookoff on Friday, Aug. 31 is at the Fire Hall parking lot from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Any chili chefs can contact Kristin at 701-793-5165 to show off their best recipe. The Soapbox Derby starts at 2 p.m. on Main Street. Contact Martin if you wish to enter 701-580-8338. Alexander will hold a football game at 7 p.m. with Kenmare, followed with music by Josh Kehr from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Alexander Bar and Grill.

Saturday's big event starts with parade registration from 8-10:15 a.m. (Contact Kristin at 701-793-5165 to pre-register). The parade down Main Street will be at 11 a.m. Vendor and craft booths will be open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Get your button for only $2 for the big beef barbecue in the park at noon on Saturday, Aug. 31.

A senior citizen social will be located in the north end of the fire hall, sponsored by the Alexander Economic Development Committee, for a place to gather indoors from the weather.

Redneck Olympics, starts at 2 p.m. There will be 4-man teams, $100 registration per team and must be 18 and older. Register by Monday, Aug. 26 by calling Kole at 701-570-5958. Events include: 3-pt. shootout, cornhole, horseshoes, Slip 'n Slide relay and mud volleyball. Games tom be located at the bonfire lot. A cornhole tournament will be held on Main Street at 2 p.m. sharp! Registration is at 1 p.m.

A Street Dance with music by "Drive by Night" is scheduled from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
