The Richland County Health Department, in partnership with the Richland County Superintendent of Schools and the Boys & Girls Club of Richland, is excited to invite you to the first event in the “Prioritizing School and Community Wellness Series.” This initiative is offered through a scholarship from School Service of Montana’s Montana Safe and Healthy Schools Project, supported by a “STOP School Violence” grant award from the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
Mark your calendars for August 28th from 6-8 pm and join us at the Richland Boys & Girls Club, 201 3rd Avenue SE, Sidney, MT for a kick off event to discuss the mental health and wellbeing of our community!
The event will begin at 6 pm with registration, refreshments, and mingling, followed by a presentation at 6:30 pm on community mental health and wellbeing topics and resources. After the presentation there will be an open question and answer session hosted by the Cook Center for Human Connections, a national organization which works to support children, families, and schools in eradicating suicide, as well as offering resources and support mental health. The evening will close with an opportunity to peruse resources, gather information, and win raffle prizes.
This inaugural event welcomes parents, caregivers, educators, out-of-school time providers, community-based organizations, and all interested community members to come together to connect, reflect, and learn about opportunities to support youth in our community. Childcare will also be provided.
This will be the first event in the series offering proactive and evidence-based approaches to addressing youth mental health in Richland schools and the wider community. The series will be facilitated by experts at the Cook Center for Human Connections and each of the sessions will be customized to the specific needs, interests, and concerns of the Richland community.
Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to connect with one another and form new relationships with fellow families, educators, and youth-development professionals who all share a commitment to supporting our youth. Mental health and wellbeing is a pressing issue among youth throughout Montana and we are determined to work together as a community to address it in Richland County.
“The Boys & Girls Club of the MonDak is excited to host the Prioritizing School & Community Wellness Meeting, which will bring together parents, caregivers, educators, and community members to explore opportunities for supporting our community’s young people. We look forward to being involved in an important conversation and shared solutions for a healthier future,” says Madison Miller, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of the MonDak.
