Watford City Chamber annual Best of the West Ribfest begins Friday, Aug. 9, taking over Main Street from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Their slogan, "Come for the Ribs, Stay for the Music" promises delicious eats and great entertainment. The street fair will open at 10 a.m. with food and shopping vendors.
From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Car Show will run, with registration from 10-11 a.m. and awards presented at 4:30 p.m. Awards will include People's Choice, Best Truck, Best Paint, Best GM, Best Ford, Best Modern Muscle, Best Mopar, Best Pre-War, and Kids Choice.
The Bags and Bones Cornhole tournament and Kid Zone that were part of last year's Ribfest will again be part of the fun-filled day.
Competitors must cook a minimum of 200 lbs. of ribs and be cooked at the event. Registration forms can be found at watfordcitychamber.com/ribfest. Vendor forms can also be found on the site as well. First place in the rib competition earns $1000, 2nd place receives $500 and 3rd place receives $250. Judging will take place at 3 p.m., and ribs will be available to the public at 6 p.m.
The Kid Zone is open from 12-8 p.m. is free, but children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Also beginning at 12 p.m., the side stage will offer musical acts. Mars Daniels will kick off the side stage entertainment, followed by Chase Long at 1:30 p.m., Wedge at 3 p.m., Adam Taylor & Nick Hockett at 4:30 p.m., and Jessie Veeder at 6 p.m.
The rock headliner is former Journey lead vocalist Steve Augeri, and the country headliner is Easton Corbin, winner of three American Country Awards. They will begin their acts at 8 p.m.
