On July 22, the McKenzie County Sheriff's Office was investigating a completely different event when they were challenged to a motor vehicle race with a 2010 Chevrolet Impala occupied by a male driver and a female passenger.
The 2010 Chevrolet ended up stopping a short time after the pursuit began. The male driver exited the vehicle and began running and was soon apprehended.
The male driver, Richard Rodriquez, Jr., was located and taken into custody for burglary, DUS/DUR (4th or subsequent offense in 5 years); fleeing, reckless driving and an active arrest warrant.
The female passenger, Lina Oquendo was also taken into custody for hindering Law Enforcement and active arrest warrant.
Both individuals are now at the McKenzie County Correctional Facility.
