Sidney graduate MaKayla Sparks won the 2025 Miss Montana Teen Volunteer pageant in Glendive on July 19. Sparks competed in interview, talent, fitness and wellness in activewear, evening gown and job readiness phases of competition to be crowned by last year's winner Kelly McCloskey. Her platform is mental health awareness. Sparks will take home at least $1,200 in scholarship money for her win in Montana's contest.
The Miss Volunteer America Program is a nationwide, service-oriented scholarship program that seeks to empower young women across the country through educational scholarships and extraordinary opportunities. The national Miss Teen Volunteer pageant will take place in Jackson, TN, in early March. Other Sidney contestants were Rhett Rossol in Miss Montana Teen Volunteer and Brynlee McNally in Miss Montana Pre-Teen Volunteer. McNally won first runner up in the pre-teen pageant.
Sparks started to take interest in pageants three years ago. "I started doing pageants about three years ago when Brielle Gorder convinced me that I should do it if for scholarships," Sparks stated. Gorder is a former Miss Montana Teen Volunteer winner.
Sparks is the daughter of Dan and Rachelle Sparks and has one brother and three sisters. She is also involved in Eaglette Drill Team, dance and 4-H. She plans to attend cosmetology school and work part time in Billings in August. Her goal is to get experience in cosmetology in Billings for a few years before opening her own salon.
