Fairview Is THE PLACE TO BE July 18-21

The Fairview Old Timers' Reunion and Summer Festival Committee has an entire weekend full of activities for everyone planned for July 18-21. It's a weekend of class and family reunions and so much more with the theme of "Old Times, New Celebrations". Events take place at Sharbono Park unless specified elsewhere. Please bring your lawn chairs.

Buttons featuring this year's honoree, Ken Babcock, are available now at Fairview merchants while Festival T-shirts are on sale at Neu's SuperValu and Waterhole #3.

Start off with the 3-on-3 Bordertown Hoops for 3rd graders to adults on Friday and Saturday at the north end of Sharbono Park. Prizes will be given for top teams. Please contact Mel Hurley at 406-480-0184 or Trish Buxbaum at 406-489–0390 for more information.

Friday, registration of Old Timers begins while you enjoy Hamburgers in the Park starting at 5 p.m. It's the perfect spot for class reunions to meet up, have a great meal and relax to the music of "Midlife Crisis" from 5:30-9 p.m. Some vendors will be set up so be sure to check them out too. Head downtown afterwards for more visiting with classmates and friends.

Junior High students have a glow party at the pool from 8-10 p.m. Cost is $5.

Saturday starts off with the 5K Color Race at 7:20 a.m. This great family event begins and ends at the park and features some rough terrain. Cost is $20 and pre-registration is encouraged. Last minute registration takes place from 6:20 - 6:50 a.m. There is also a one-mile Warrior Walk for small kids and families with strollers which will start at 7:30 a.m. Kids 10 and under walk or run for free. Wear white and get in on all the fun!

Registration of Old Timers begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, along with a delicious FREE complete breakfast prepared by the Fairview Fire Department and served by the 2023 State Champion Warrior Football team until 10 a.m.

The car show will be ready for visitors at 9:30 a.m. Thirty vendors have signed up to be in the park during the day and then some will move downtown to the street dance area for the evening. With nine food vendors and 21 craft vendors, you're sure to find a great treat.

Kids need to register for the Kiddie Parade at 10 a.m., with the parade starting at 10:30, and kids can bounce on the water inflatables from 11a.m.-4 p.m. for just $15. Bring your swimsuit! There's also open swim from 1-5 p.m.

The Grand Parade line-up is from 10-11:15 a.m. on State Street (Interstate Avenue) and the big event starts at noon. The Festival Committee asks that you please register and line up early so the parade can begin on time.

Head to the gazebo after the parade for the flag raising by the American Legion, followed by the national anthem and program which includes recognizing this year's button honoree Ken Babcock. Babcock positively impacted students in the Fairview School system for 36 years teaching and coaching basketball. As a city councilman, Lion, Jaycee, Montana Education Association, Zion Lutheran Church council and Athletic Club member, Babcock also dedicated his time and talents to the Fairview community.

Dunk a local celebrity and help pay for school lunches for Fairview kids at the Dunk Tank from 1-5 p.m. next to the Hotel Albert. Fairview FFA will host a Cornhole tournament starting at 2 p.m. at the north end of the park.

Others can head over to the Senior Citizen Center from 2-4 p.m. to visit, absorb some local history hosted by Debbie Crossland and enjoy an Ice Cream Social sponsored by Merchants Bank. Margaret Flynn will have an entire button collection from 1956 to the present on display, along with many duplicates. If you're looking for a special person, building or event that was featured on a button, Margaret is the person to talk to.

The popular Explore America Duck Race starts at 4 p.m. at the canal bridge.

Visit with friends and family and support your local merchants downtown at the Street Dance with music by "Sideways" from 8-midnight and be sure to check out the vendors, you might find something you've never tried before!

Finish off the weekend at the Sunday church service in the park, hosted by WCAG.
