Sidney Health Center Receives $450,000 Grant From M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust

Sidney, MT – 7/1/24 – Sidney Health Center is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous $450,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. This substantial funding will enable Sidney Health Center to acquire a second, state-of-the-art hyperbaric chamber, and additional infusion equipment, significantly expanding and enhancing its cutting-edge cancer treatment options and critical healthcare services. This investment is pivotal in advancing the overall well-being of our residents.

A hyperbaric chamber is a pressurized space used for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), a medical treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen. The air pressure in the chamber is typically 1.5-3 times higher than normal air pressure, which helps the lungs absorb more oxygen. This increased oxygen can help the body heal, reduce inflammation, and fight infections.

Serving a vast region that spans eastern Montana and western North Dakota, Sidney Health Center is committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services. With the addition of the Hyperbaric System and additional infusion equipment, Sidney Health Center will be able to offer a broader range of services to its patients that are rarely found in rural areas. This expansion will increase the number of patient visits and procedures within hyperbaric and wound care and infusion services, ensuring continued access to advanced treatments close to home.

As healthcare facilities in rural areas continue to cut services, Sidney Health Center aims to expand its offerings with the latest technology and clinical support. By aligning services with community needs, the organization strives to ensure long-term sustainability and improved healthcare outcomes.

The $450,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust is one of the largest grants ever received by the Foundation for Community Care, the supporting nonprofit organization of Sidney Health Center. This significant funding underscores the importance of providing exceptional healthcare services to rural communities and reflects the Trust’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents in the region.

“We are deeply grateful to the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust for this transformative grant,” said Jen Doty, CEO of Sidney Health Center. “The Hyperbaric System and infusion equipment will greatly benefit our patients and community, ensuring we continue to offer leading-edge treatments and services locally.”
