Sidney Will Be "Bakken" With Fun At The Bakken Barrel Daze June 29-30

Outback Barrel Racing has planned a two-day event for you and your family, Saturday June 29-30. The event will be located at the Richland County Fairgrounds and will be called the "Bakken Barrel Daze".

Outback Barrel Racing is a non-profit organization who is full of volunteers dedicated to promoting barrel racing as a sport and a family event. They go above and beyond to help their community, even in a competitive environment. OBRA is all about having fun at their races and will even help someone triumph over themselves in order to help someone in their community. There are about 150 members and every year host about 30 events in eastern Montana and western North Dakota. All of their officers and directors are volunteers and work long hard hours to make sure every race is its absolute best for racers and for the horses as well.

Gates will open 3 p.m. Saturday evening and 11 a.m. Sunday afternoon. All times are MDT. Admission is free to the community to come and watch.

This will be OBRA's first time hosting the "Bakken Barrel Daze", which has been around for 10 years now.

Before you start your Saturday evening, stop by with Tammy Rodger's Brew 2 U truck to get yourself not just a good cup of coffee but some delicious fried donuts.

Tammy also has donated all the peewee prizes to "Bakken Barrel Daze". On both days you will see four different groups racing. There will be a peewee race, with racers being 8 years old and under. The youth will be 9-18 years old. Open division will be any age wanting to race. Then they will have the senior division of 50 years old and older. There will be 29 stalls for competitors to rent at $10 a stall. Four saddles will be awarded to each winner in the open four division, one saddle to the senior division, and one to the youth division. Carla Leland, Cowboy Paparazzi, who is also a barrel racer herself,

will photograph the event. Trista Mantelli, Outback Barrel Racing president, wanted to make sure each contestant walks away with something even if they did not win.
