To inaugurate the new outdoor basketball court in Savage, the Savage Industrial Technology Program (shop) and Burns Creek Inn will host a Co-Ed 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Saturday, June 29. Brackets are ages 8-13, 14-18 and 19 and older. Each bracket will allow up to four players per team and cost to enter is $40.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Savage Industrial Technology Program to help purchase higher grade equipment, and to provide smaller supplies for students wanting to participate in the sport..

The tournament takes place in conjunction with the Summer Soiree hosted by the Burns Creek Inn which is a fun day and evening for everyone. Savage, Inc. is also hosting a cornhole tournament that day to raise money for community needs.
Riley Hagler, Savage Industrial Technology teacher, said his intention is also to showcase the hard work and true community effort that went into constructing the new basketball court. “It was a big community effort,” he said. Many businesses and individuals contributed money, materials and time to make the court a reality. He had particular praise for Marvin, Rhonda and Kyle Welnel, owners of the Burns Creek Inn for organizing the community and getting it done. “They have just become a huge part of the community since taking over the BCI. They’re always willing to help the school and community every way they can,” Hagler stated.
