David Christian Anderson, 76, Eureka, MT

David Christian Anderson, was born on Feb. 28, 1948, in Sidney, MT, to Daniel M. Anderson and Vera Lamphier Anderson. Private family services were held in Hilo, HI.

David was baptized at Brorson Lutheran Church and confirmed at Pella Lutheran Church, Sidney MT. He was raised in the Brorson community and attended rural schools through the 8th grade. His high school years were spent at Sidney High School where he graduated with the class of 1966.

He attended the Law Enforcement Academy, Trinidad, CO, after high school. He returned home to Sidney and worked for Don Franz Construction, Sidney, MT, for a time where he learned truck driving and the operation of heavy equipment.

In November 1970 he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Seabees in Vietnam where he used his construction skills he acquired while working around Sidney. After he was discharged from the Navy he and Joyce Nagata were married and made their home in Eureka, MT.

While living in Eureka, David drove a logging truck and hauled freight. Joyce taught school and their first daughter, Michelle, was born while there. He enjoyed fishing and team roping in his spare time.

After a few years in the mountains of Montana, David, Joyce and Michelle decided to move to Hawaii to be closer to Joyce's family there. This is where their second daughter, Cheryl, was born.

David owned an ocean fishing boat and sold fish for a time while Joyce continued teaching. Eventually, he returned to the mainland and worked for the Department of Fish and Wildlife, Burns, OR, and spent a few years closer to his hometown of Sidney, working on a ranch near Terry, MT.

When he retired, David returned to Eureka to live and spend his days fishing and hunting, which were his pastimes that he always enjoyed growing up on the plains of eastern Montana.

David is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Michael) Araki, Hilo, HI; and Cheryl (Dustin) Miller, Newberg, OR; and grandchildren, Ayden Araki, Taylor Araki, James Miller, and McKenzie Miller. He is also survived by brothers: Gary (Linda) Anderson, Miles City, MT; and Duane (Linda) Anderson, of the family home northwest of Sidney, MT; and sisters: Janice (Richard) Kunda, Plentywood, MT; Patty (Pat) Micheletto, Savage, MT: and Debbie Kunda, Sidney, MT.
