It's a full weekend of family fun as Watford City kicks off the summer with baseball, food trucks and Touch a Truck, all at the Rough Rider Center.
Start the weekend off with the Walleye Legion Alumni baseball game at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5 as players of all ages get together. A full weekend of baseball follows with The 4th Annual Doug Johnsrud Baseball Tournament, as teams from Froid, Billings and Richland County, MT; Lovell and Gillette, WY; Moose Jaw, SK; Williston, Hillsboro Central Valley and Watford City, ND compete. The championship games are scheduled for Sunday, June 9.
The 701 Food Truck Rodeo kicks off on Friday with about a dozen trucks offering a huge variety of delectable food including BBQ, tacos, Asian food, mini donuts and so much more. Trucks are open at 11 a.m. daily and shut down at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Kids will have a blast at the free Touch A Truck event on Friday, June 7. They're encouraged to climb all over everything from dump trucks, ambulances and fire trucks to drilling rigs, you name it. Honk the horns, sound the sirens, just have fun! Sensory time, with no noise, is scheduled from 1-2 p.m. with the noisy part from 2-4 p.m.
Relax with a beverage sponsored by the Watford City Park and Recreation Foundation, and enjoy live music as you visit with your friends and neighbors and watch some great baseball.
Brock White, Watford City Marketing & Communications Coordinator, is excited about this year's event. "It's a great kick off to the summer where the community can get together for lots of fun stuff at one place at one time, all on the campus of the Rough Rider Center," he said.
