Sidney High School was the scene as 14 pre-school students graduated from the Busy Beavers' program last week.
Busy Beavers is a creative and educational pathway for high school and pre-school students to learn. The program allows high school students a guided pathway to success and potential careers relating to teaching. A goal is preparing the children for kindergarten.
Lessons learned during the year for the young students included writing their names, reciting the alphabet, knowing the days of the week, establishing friendships and understanding how to cooperate.
This marks the third year that high school teacher Cheyenne Ryan is leading the program.
Each of the young students received a certificate and a Dr. Seuss book during the ceremony.
Pre-school teachers included high school students Brooke Watson, Joael Eggum, Kansas Martinez, Madison Jonas, Mark Berg, Maya Fritts, Ryan Lillemon, Rylee Mickelsen, Selena Manning, Mariyah Bauer, Elijah Conway, Tyson Jacobson, Myli Josephson, MaKaylan Otis, Sophie Pust, Miles Sifers, Claire Steinbeisser and MacKenzie Wadley.
The Busy Beavers' program started in the fall of 1986 at Sidney High School. The first graduation ceremony was in spring 1987
