On May 13, at approximately 11:05 am (CST), The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office received a call in regards to a welfare check for a male individual located in the black Ford pickup near the intersection of 160th Ave NW and 28th St NW in East Fairview, ND. The individual appeared to be slumped over in the driver seat of the vehicle.
A McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office deputy made contact with the individual to conduct a welfare check. During the conversation with the deputy, the male individual drove from the location at a high rate of speed. The deputy pursued the individual northbound on 160th Ave NW towards Highway 200. The vehicle proceeded to travel at speeds between 70 and 80 mph. The driver turned westbound on Highway 200 toward the North Dakota and Montana state line.
The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) successfully disabling the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle exited the vehicle and fled from the scene on foot. The individual was located and taken into custody.
The male was identified as Robert Yost Jr.
Yost was charged with following offenses:
NDCC- 19-03.1-23(7)(a)- Possession of CS-Methamphetamine-2nd offense- C Felony
: NOC. 1903 42312) Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, Second offense.
• NDCC- 39-10-71(1)(b)- Fleeing a peace officer-Vehicle-Fleeing from Felony- C Felony
• NDCC- 12.1-17-03 Reckless Endangerment-Extreme Indifference- C Felony
NDCC- 62.1-02-01(1)(b) Unlawful possession of firearm-Felon or violent misdemeanor- C Felony
NDCC- 39-08-01(1)(a)(2)- DUI-Intoxicating liquor-1st offense- B Misdemeanor
NDCC- 39-08-01(2)- Refusal to submit to chemical test-Generic-1st offense- B Misdemeanor
Yost Jr. is presumed innocent until proven guilty. No further information will be released at this time.
