Myron Keith Leland was born in Sidney, Montana on May 27, 1936, to Ernest and Johren (Gulbraa) Leland. He was raised in the rural area near Squaw Gap, North Dakota. He attended a one room country schoolhouse first through eighth grade. He attended high school in Sidney, Montana, and graduated from high school in 1954. While in high school he participated in band, FFA, Intramural basketball, football, and track.

Myron moved to Glendive and worked in the oil fields after high school. During his visits home, he met a schoolteacher, Ardehl Adams, at a bouncy floor hall dance. Myron and Ardehl were married on June 9, 1957, in Glendive, Montana, where their son, Tim, was born. In late 1958 they moved to the family ranch on Bennie Peer Creek where they spent their life raising their son and two daughters, Tammy and Cindy.

While on the ranch he worked hard raising beef cattle, wheat, and barley with his brothers. He took great pride in acquiring his own band of mares. In his early years, he could be seen moving haystacks for the ranch and many neighbors into late fall.

Some of the favorite things he enjoyed were lutefisk feeds, hunting season, fishing, and getting together with friends and sharing old stories and making more. His favorite part of the day was having a drink with friends and neighbors at the bunkhouse.

When friends stopped by, he was quick to offer pickled herring, pickled northern pike, pickled pigs feet, sardines or any other odd ball snack.

He was a fan of all the lutefisk feeds in the area, and if there was extra, he always brought some home to freeze and eat throughout the year.

Myron was a member of the Sons of Norway, Life member of 59 years of Sidney Moose Lodge, North Dakota Stockmen's Association, and McKenzie County Grazing Association, where he served as Director for many years.

Myron passed away on April 1, 2024, at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, Montana.

He is survived by his wife, Ardehl; his children Tim (Tammy) Leland of Sidney, Montana, Tammy (Bill) LaCrosse of Williston, North Dakota, and Cindy (Rob) Fraser of Roberts, Montana; his grandchildren Katrina Leland of Sidney, Montana, Dillon Leland of Watford City, North Dakota, Karley (Austin) Lantz of Williston, North Dakota, Garret (Caitlyn) Leland of Squaw Gap, North Dakota, Kelsey Fraser of Big Timber, Montana, and Stacy (Ryan) Wickum of Williston, North Dakota; five great-grandchildren Tillie, Jett, Luci, Braxton and Ryker; brothers Gary (Georgia) Leland of Havre, Montana and Joe Leland of Sidney, Montana; sisters-in-law Virginia Leland and Jeanie Leland both of Sidney, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
