Catch some exciting basketball with the best players from District 2C competing in the 3rd Annual 2C Pepsi Classic All Star Games on Tuesday, April 9 in Lambert. The top 16 boys and top 16 girls from District 2C have committed to play that evening. Tip off for the girls' game is at 6 p.m. MDT followed by the boys at 7:30.
Lambert senior Gracelyn Gonsioroski and junior Keira Rains, planners for this year's big event, are working hard to ensure a great experience for the players and fans. A generous $1500 donation from Pepsi helps sponsor the entire event. The $5 gate admission pays for the rest, including jerseys, refs and MVP trophies. "We couldn't do it without them," Gonsioroski said.
Players from across the district will converge on Lambert with the goal of winning bragging rights for the year. They are All Conference winners as voted on by coaches, divided evenly into teams. They have no opportunity to practice together although there may be more than one player from a particular school.
Coaches, who can not be current District 2C coaches, are Bill Triplett, Blue Boys and Girls teams; Keri Jorgensen, Girls White; Cody Steppler and Grady Gonsioroski, Boys White team. In a tradition started last year, one girl and one boy will earn MVP for the night, chosen by the referees.
Regular season may be over but these games will give fans one more chance to see some great high school basketball so plan to be in Lambert April 9.
