A Hometown Holiday Benefit for Janaye Rayman will be held at the Sidney Elks Lodge, Friday, Dec. 22 from 6-11 p.m. This benefit is for a Sidney High School alumna, by her fellow alumni.
The daughter of Ron and Cyndee Brown; Janaye made many friends, was an all-star athlete, and did well in school. After graduating Sidney High School, she went on to Black Hills State University, Spearfish, SD, to get a bachelor's degree in radiology. She met her husband, Elliot, there and started a business, Barefoot Fitness. She and Elliot married and had two daughters. Then, six years ago, Janaye was diagnosed with breast cancer. She successfully battled it; however the cancer has returned and there is now metastatic disease in her lungs, liver, bones, and brain. The treatments she had been receiving in Rapid City have lost its effectiveness in battling the cancer, however, she has been accepted to a new clinical trial at Mayo Clinic for which she must travel 600 miles to Rochester, MN every month.
The friends of Janaye are planning a family-friendly holiday event, which will include a free-will offering roast beef dinner provided by Jerry and Judy Foss and desserts provided by The Burns Creek Inn. There will be a silent and live auction and music provided by DJ Nate Strasheim. The Elks banquet room will be decorated in all its Christmas glory. Janaye's friends are pulling out all the stops and welcoming the entire community for a gathering with fun, camaraderie, and goodwill donations for Janaye just ahead of the holidays.
Those not able to attend that still wish to donate can do so via the Janaye Rayman Benefit at Stockman Bank or venmo @janayeraymanbenefit. They can also call or text Kaila Forbes at 406-489-0702. For more information visit the benefit page on Facebook.
