The Fairview Warriors stumbled out of the gate but regained their footing to punch their ticket to the state championship game beating Ft. Benton 48-12 on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 11.
Jeff Tjelde threw for 231 yards and 4 touchdowns. Deacon Gackle had 7 catches for 121 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brock Schlothauer had 3 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. He added 68 yards on 5 carries and another touchdown rushing. Wyatt McPherson and Tyler Loan added a rushing touchdown each.
Defensively, the Warriors were their typical hard-nosed selves flying all over the field making plays. Schlothauer, Gackle, and Tjelde each had an interception and Gavin Serafini caused a fumble that was recovered by Schlothauer. Fairview ran 41 plays for 369 yards and 7 touchdowns while keeping the Longhorns out of the end zone after their initial score until the last seconds of the game while the JV was getting playoff football experience.
The final score was 48-12. This is Fairview's fourth trip to the championship game. They look to add to the 2019 title won at Rocky Mountain College against Superior.
The state championship game will be at Belt at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18,
