With Thanksgiving just around the bend and Christmas not too much further, one of the Sunrise city’s most anticipated events is coming up soon. Sidney’s Christmas Stroll marks the beginning of the Christmas season for residents of the small town and brings with it a lot of festive fun Nov. 24.
The stroll only spans half the day and begins with the Polar Plunge at 1 p.m. at city hall. Ribbon and Rail will be running the trains in their basement from 1 or 2 p.m. until the Parade of Lights reaches Main St. (Usually 7 p.m.) Skating with Santa will be from 2-3:30 p.m., at the Richland Rangers Hockey Arena. There will be a free showing of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at Centre Theatre starting at 4 p.m.
The floats for the Parade of Lights will start to line up at the old Shopko parking lot at 5:30 p.m. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. and will go up Central Ave. The day ends at Centre Theatre with another free showing. The second movie will be “Santa Clause” and will start at 8 p.m.
Events and times may change. Contact the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce at 406-433-1916 or visit their Facebook page for updates.
