1st Annual Sidney Volunteer Fireman's Ball Set For Nov. 18

The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their first annual Fireman’s Ball from 6-11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Richland County Event Center, Sidney. The semi-formal ball will serve as a fundraiser for the Fallen Volunteer Hero’s Scholarship.

The semiformal event is a 21 and older event with a live and silent auction, dancing to the music from the “Plowed Under Band”, Havre, a surprise musician, photo booth, dinner, and drinks. Captain Brandon Roth and Lieutenant Jacob Carlsen, along with the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department have worked hard for the past couple months to make this event a success. Dinner will consist of upscale finger foods including kebabs, special sliders, hors d’oeuvres, and a dessert table provided by the wives of the SVFD. The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department encourages those who wish to attend to dress up for the event, gentlemen in a sports coat with a button-down shirt, women in a dress, or dress pants. Tickets are $50 each or a table of 8 for $500 and can be purchased at the Sidney fire hall, from a local fire fighter, by contacting the event page on Facebook, or at the door.

The Fallen Volunteer Hero’s Scholarship is open to students in Richland County with a certain amount of volunteer hours. The scholarship is in honor of fire fighters in Richland County that passed away too soon, including Jodi Verhasselt, Darren Linde, and Rod Torgerson. Chief Adam Smith, former Chief Larry Christensen, Lieutenant Jacob Carlsen, Firefighter Gabe Enriquez, and Firefighter Olly Redfern make up the scholarship committee.

The wives of firefighters have been a huge help with decorations, setting up, and planning the ball. The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department could not make this event work without them or the support from the community and their sponsors.
