The Fairview Warriors came out hot on an unusually cold October day shocking the Shelby Coyotes in the first round of the Class C 8-man playoffs. Fairview, the #1 seed in the East, scored 40 unanswered points in the first quarter against Shelby, the #3 seed in the North. After a first play 30-yard pass to Jaxon Vitt, Wyatt McPherson took the handoff on the next play 35-yards for a touchdown. Keegan Skogas added the 2-point conversion and two plays into the game it was 8-0 Warriors. Brock Schlothauer caused a fumble on Shelby's first series. The Warriors capitalized on a circus catch by Deacon Gackle off a 30-yard tipped pass from Jeff Tjelde. McPherson added another touchdown run from 3-yards out and a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown. Gackle took a shovel pass 65-yards to make the first quarter score 40-0. Tyler Loan ran a 14-yard touchdown and McPherson added a 45-yard touchdown pass from Tjelde bringing the halftime score to 56-0.
Schlothauer took the ball 52-yards to start the third quarter pushing the score to 64-0. Skogas added seven 2-point conversions tying a school record for conversion runs in a game. Loan had an interception and fumble recovery on defense. Troy Karst returned a kickoff 75-yards in the fourth quarter and also forced a fumble and recovered it, too. Fairview ran 28 plays for 413 total yards. That is 18 rushes for 203 yards with 4 touchdowns and 7-10 passing for 210 yards with 3 touchdowns. Schlothauer had 6 carries for 127 yards and 1 touchdown while Gackle had 4 catches for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns. The #1 ranked Warriors travel to Arlee this weekend to face the #1 seed in the West in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
