Fairview Defeats Poplar 61-12

The Fairview Warrior football team played the Poplar Indians in a conference game Thursday, Sept. 14.

Fairview started the scoring early and often getting four touchdown passes from Jeff Tjelde in the first half, one to Deacon Gackle, 14 yards; Tyler Loan, 2 yards; and two to Brock Schlothauer, 22 yards and 14 yards. Loan scored on an interception return of 14 yards and added another passing touchdown before halftime to Gackle, 14 yards. Wyatt McPherson scored from 2 yards out bringing the halftime score to 45-0.

The second half started similarly as Loan hit Jaxon Vitt for a 57-yard touchdown strike and Gackle recorded a safety tackling the Poplar running back in the endzone. Poplar scored twice against the JV unit. Troy Karst finished the scoring by returning the final kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown making the final score 61-12. The Warriors from Fairview ran 30 plays for 321 yards, 7 touchdowns and 1 two-point conversion while also scoring on an interception, a safety, and a kickoff return. They will face off against the second rated Circle Wildcats at the culmination of homecoming next week.
