Carrie Virginia Fischer was born Dec. 22,1932 in Fairview, MT, the daughter of John and Martha McGinnis. Her family lived in the Sioux Pass area before moving to Crane. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1951.
On July 2, 1951, she married Ben Campbell in Fort Eustis, VA, where Ben was stationed in the U.S. Army. In 1956 they moved to California and their last move was to Sidney on New Year's Eve in 1968 to purchase the family farm. To this union, four children were born: Dale, Kathleen (Kathy), James (Jim), and Cindy.
In August 1977, Carrie married Leo Fischer in Sheridan, WY. They lived south of Fairview where she operated a small business for years, known as Fischer's Pet Shop. Time off was spent camping and fishing with friends and family on weekends and holidays during the "good" weather months. When Leo passed away in 2016, she began spending the winter months in Arizona and sometimes coming back to the Fairview area for the summer months. She volunteered at the Good Cents Store and made many new friends, along with seeing a lot of old acquaintances.
Carrie passed away in her home on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Surviving her are two children and their spouses, Kathy (Terry), Fairview, MT, and Jim (Shelly), Shepherd, MT; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters Joy Buxbaum, Sharon Gerding, and Bev (Ray) Pust.
Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha; son Dale; daughter Cindy; grandson Darren; brothers Leo and Tom; and sister Ellen.
