Hundreds of luminaries will be decorating the lawn of the Foundation for Community Care during their 2023 "Light the Night "event on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 5-8p.m. Sidney Health Center will be assist ing with hosting it for the 8th year.
People wanting to honor someone who has been touched by cancer may buy a luminary in their honor. For a $10 donation per lantern, their name can be displayed on the paper lantern that will glow all through the night. Solar lights are also available for purchase for $10. They are a take-home reminder to hang and enjoy. Cancer Support Community Montana will be at " Light the Night" to present resources for those affected by cancer.
2022's event brought in over $17,000 for the Sidney Health Center Cancer Care Center. Reynolds Market, Sidney, sold brats and mac and cheese last year at the event, which sold out before the event was over. This year, they will be bringing their smoker and a lot more food. All proceeds will go towards the Sidney Health Center Cancer Care Center. Last year 196 individual people were honored. It is estimated that about 100 people attended to see the displays in 2022 and it is expected that many more will come this year.
