Possible Human Remains Found South of Sidney

On the evening of Aug. 13, 2023 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a resident reported to the Sheriff’s Office that they had been engaging in recreational activities on the Yellowstone River south of Sidney during which time they came upon possible human skeletal bones. They recovered bones from the site and turned them over to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Richland County Coroner and the Montana Fish and Game are following up with an on-site investigation. The bones recovered will be submitted to the Montana State Crime Labe to be further analyzed.
