It’s that time once again when people from all over the country converge on Fairview for the annual Old Timers Reunion and Summer Festival. Class reunions, family reunions, parades, food and tons of fun mark the weekend. Kick off the celebration with Bingo & Beer at the Double Barrel Thursday, July 13. Cards are $2 each and proceeds go to Post Prom 2024.
Enjoy a nice evening in Sharbono Park Friday beginning at 5 p.m. with “Hamburgers in the Park” served by Fairview 4-H for only $10 per plate. Registration of Old Timers will also take place at that time. Junior high kids are invited to a Glow Party at the swimming pool Friday evening from 8-10 p.m. for $5 each.
Saturday promises a full day of fun starting at 6:30 a.m. with check-in for the 5K Color Race. Sign up early on line at runsignup.com/Race/MT/FairviewFestivalColorRace. The 5K race starts at 7:10 a.m. with a 1-mile race starting at 7:25 a.m. Wear White!
The Fairview Fire Department will be cooking, and Fairview FFA serving, the Free Breakfast from 8-10 a.m. while registration of Old Timers takes place from 8-11 a.m. Registration for the Kiddie Parade is at 10 a.m. at the MonDak Clinic with the parade starting at 10:30 a.m. Sign up for the Grand Parade on State Street is from 10-11:30 with the parade happening at noon. The theme for both parades is “Ewe all bring your herd”.
Check out all the beauties at the Classic Car Show at the north end of the park beginning at 11 a.m. Kids will have a blast on the water inflatables from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost is $15 to bounce all day. Bring your swimsuit! There will also be open swiming at the pool from 1-5 p.m.
Be sure to take in the flag raising by the American Legion, the national anthem and the program, which will include recognition of this year’s button honorees Gerry and Bev Reichenbach, beginning at 1 p.m. at the gazebo.
Fairview FFA is sponsoring a cornhole tourney at the north end of the park at 2 p.m. or check out the Fairview History displays and ice cream social sponsored by RTC Networks at the Senior Center from 2-4 p.m. The annual duck race starts at 4 p.m. at the canal bridge.
Finish the night off downtown as you visit with friends and enjoy the Street Dance with music by The Great Outdoors Band.
Church in the Park at 9 a.m. Sunday wraps up the official events of the weekend.
