The Richland County Jaycees are once again commandeering the Richland County Fairgrounds to throw a family-friendly celebration of our nation’s independence. The 2023 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks, on July 4. will be free of charge to the public with games, food, car show, music, and fireworks it is sure to be a fun time for people of all ages.
With the amazing attendance last year, the Jaycees have decided to change things up a little. From noon-6 p.m., there will be carnival games, prizes, an inflatable bouncy house and water parks, a dunk tank, and food trucks. Judging for the car show will be from noon-3 p.m.
The Jaycees will also be using the event center during these hours for craft vendors, a photo booth, seating, and Sunny’s Family Restaurant’s food booth.
The fun continues with a more adult theme from 6-10 p.m. The event will be alcohol-free but will include a band, patriotic costume contest, 50/50 raffle, and more. The fireworks at 10 p.m. promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The Jaycees also joined with Richey Public Schools this past year to teach students how to tear down and build a derby car in an after-school program. The completed car will be showcased at the 2023 Independence Day Celebration as part of the Car Show and raffled off at the Annual Derby, on Aug. 19. The Jaycees will be trying to bring the program to Sidney and Fairview schools for the 2023/2024 school year.
Since 1954, the members of the Richland County Jaycees have strived to achieve a positive community impact through public events, holiday donations to local families, student scholarship programs, and provide additional resources to Richland County residents. To hold this event, they still need volunteers, food, and craft vendors. Donation jars will be out in the community to help fund the festivities.
The Richland County Jaycees hold several events over the year. For more information on the 2023 Independence Day celebration and fireworks, check out their Facebook page, JCI Richland County, email; [email protected], or contact Shannon Wicks at 406-480-1041.
