The Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours event honoring Cape Air and the newly remodeled facility of the Sidney Richland Airport on June 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Sidney Richland Airport. The public is invited to come to the open-house style event to enjoy a tour of the building including multiple aircraft and 15-minute rides on Cape Air aircrafts. This Business After Hours event is family-friendly with activities for children and an “aviation trivia”.ß Cape Air has generously purchased gift cards from a variety of local businesses and round-trip Cape Air tickets for prizes. Hors d’oeuvres will be catered by Mimi’s Kitchen Co.
Cape Air has held the Essential Air Service contract to provide air service in eastern Montana since 2012. Currently Cape Air offers five flights out of Sidney destined for Billings each day. The flights are at affordable rates ranging from $29-$49. Other eastern Montana communities served by Cape Air include: Glendive, Wolf Point, Glasgow, and Havre. Cape Air is essential to the sustainability of many small airports in rural communities. Recent Cape Air investments in local air service include an upgrade in aircrafts to the Tecnam T2012. The Sidney Richland Airport is also home to other essential businesses including Richland Aviation, Richland Rentals, Guardian Flights and the Sidney Health Center Med Flight. The Sidney Richland Airport recently utilized just over $4.4 million to develop infrastructure and reconstruct crucial runways. The airport also expanded and remodeled the terminal. The Sidney Richland Airport Board of Directors includes: Walt McNutt, Alan Seigfreid, Russ Huotari, Troy Jensen, and Bryan Prevost. The board expressed a great deal of satisfaction with the progressive improvements to the airport. The board has also appreciated the partnership with Cape Air and recommended the award of the next Essential Air Contract to Cape Air.
