On Tuesday, May 23, the area sixth graders were invited to participate in Kids Fishing Day at Gartside Reservoir.
Marla Prell, fMiles City Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks office has been doing this for seven years. "I know this event goes back to at least the mid 90s. Today, we have Miles City and Glendive members of the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, MonDak Walleyes Unlimited and Blue Rock Products Company are here to assist. We have four stations for the kids to go through while they learn about fish ID, casting, hyperthermia, and water safety. They will all be given a rod and reel provided by Walleyes Unlimited. This is a good way to help create future anglers," said Marla Prell.
Prell encourages everyone to try fishing this summer. Anyone 12 and older needs to purchase a fishing license.
