Sidney Area Boy Scouts Proclamation

Boy Scout Anniversary Week is celebrated in February every year in the U.S. Boy Scouts Anniversary Week dedicated this time towards raising awareness of the importance of boy scouts, raise awareness of the impact that boy scouts have, and commemorate the founding of Boy Scouts of America.

According to legend, W. D. Boyce was lost on a foggy street in London when an unknown Scout helped him by guiding him back to his hotel. When the boy refused a tip, explaining that he was only doing his duty as a Scout, Boyce was inspired to bring the teachings of the British Boy Scout Association back to the U.S. The Boy Scouts of America, which was founded in February 1910, began as a way to instill individualism and patriotism. Boy Scouts have been a part of the United States since the beginning of the industrial revolution. The organization has been a great source of education for the younger generation. They learn useful skills that help them in life. Boy scouts have greatly improved the lives of others by instilling good morals and life skills needed to succeed in life.

On Feb. 8 we celebrate National Boy Scout Day to honor those who are trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.  Boy Scout Troop 141 sponsored by Pella Lutheran Church attended Monday's City Council meeting to have a Proclamation signed by Mayor Rick Norby proclaiming Feb. 5-11, 2023 Boy Scout Week in Sidney, MT.
