McKenzie County Traffic Fatality Dec. 26

On Monday, Dec. 26 at approximately 6:29 p.m. CST on Hwy 85-mile marker 177 approximately 6 miles south of Williston, ND there was a head on collision that resulted in a fatality.

A 2008 Ford F-150, driven by Betty Lee, a 61-year-old female, Sidney, MT, was traveling northbound on Highway 85. The Ford lost control as it negotiated the curve. The Ford entered the southbound lanes and struck a 2021 Ram 5500, driven by Michael Deck, a 31-year-old male, McPherson, KS, that was traveling southbound. The driver of the Ford was ejected and pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Ram was uninjured.

At the time of the crash the road conditions were icy and the weather conditions were cloudy. The driver of the Ford F-160 was not wearing a seatbelt and the driver of the Ram 5500 was wearing a seatbelt.

The agencies that responded were North Dakota Highway Patrol, McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Rural Fire Department, Williston Ambulance and North Dakota Department of Transportation

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
