The MonDak Heritage Center welcomed two new employees to their staff on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Nikki Bailey is the new executive director. The position had been vacant for a considerable amount of time. She is a Montana native and grew up in Fort Benton, near Great Falls. She got a Masters degree from Montana State University-Bozeman in agriculture education with a focus on relations. Before coming to Sidney, Nikki worked as an MSU Extension Agent for Carbon County and she did a bit of everything from 4-H to agriculture programming. She always was interested in the arts, history, and education so when she saw that the MonDak Heritage Society was looking for a new executive director for the museum she leaped at the chance. Now that she has the position, Bailey plans to take some time to get to know the people, board, and established events before she adds anything. She does not want to change what the community loves about the MonDak Heritage Center but wants to add new educational opportunities and even some interactive ones. Nikki said, ‘There’s a lot of good opportunities at the Heritage Center to educate the community.”
Caitlynn Hasvold was hired to replace Leann Pelvit as the new administrative assistant. She grew up in Gillette, WY, and Fairview. She got her Associate of Arts degree with a focus on psychology and communications at Yavapai Community College, Prescott, Az. She has worked at an art gallery in the past but has been bartending at the Rodiron Grill, Sidney, for several years. Hasvold loves art, people, and to learn new things. She said, “You should learn till the day you die.” She is looking forward to seeing the patrons at the museum.
The MonDak Heritage Center is located at 120 3rd Ave. SE, Sidney. The museum is free to the public from Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. There are also special events and classes are available to the public at a cost.
