Serena Kringen, Sidney, remembers her dad’s (Randy) exact words, “Invest in the community”, which she has chosen to do by purchasing the Yellowstone building Sept. 8.
“I’m very excited,” she smiles. Kringen grew up in the construction business by watching her dad and owning MonDak Doors. She has chosen to bring back the original brick walls and wood floors where she can and return it to its historic decor. She always had a special place in her heart shopping for clothing, shoes and watching the zip line (which is still in tact) go up and down at the “Merc”. She graduated from Sidney High School and attended college at UND and then moved back home.
Her first project is to open a coffee shop, “Yellowstone Perc”, featuring “Wild Calf Coffee from Bainville, along with sandwiches, Grandma Verda’s potato salad, breakfast sandwiches, soups and salads. There will be plenty of seating with tables and chairs plus couches to relax on to enjoy the menu.
She has hired M&S Builders, Sidney, Tony Hanson and Jory Bright, plus the help of her four children, Kaden, 19, Asle, 15, Mya, 13, with Bex, 4, chipping in.
Phase 2 will be a party area.
