Now that they have a new building, the Richland County Food Bank board has decided to have an open house.
The Richland County Food Bank has spent a long 12 years in the 651 square-foot space at the back of the Nutter building. Now, with the help of board members, supporters, volunteers, and county commissioners they have been able to acquire and move all their goods into their building. In thanks to everyone who helped and to show off their new space, the Richland County Food Bank is opening up their new building to the public on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 2-4 p.m. The entire 1,500 square-foot building is at street level. There is no loading dock but there is a door in the back for deliveries. Board member Candy Markwald said, "I'm praying it will be easier for everyone." There will be refreshments available.
The Richland County Food Bank is asking attendees to bring a donation such as canned food or toiletries as a housewarming gift. They are always looking for donations of canned food but what they need the most right now are bars of soap, hand soap, hotel toiletries, feminine hygiene products, and canned carrots.
The new East Main building is across the street from Al's Mini Storage. The building was the home of Telvco, a company that builds valves for the gas lines in the natural gas industry. The new Richland County Food Bank address is 517 E. Main, Sidney. The hours will remain the same, Mondays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and 1 p.m. until the last person is helped. The number to call for appointments is 406-433-8142.
