This year, to benefit Adopt a Senior's second year running in Sidney, Kayla Fox Wellness is offering classes in Sidney and Fairview as a fundraiser throughout November.
Kayla Fox has worked with the senior community in Sidney for six years. Fox stated, "Seniors aren't able to get out much in the winter months and it affects their emotional state but they do enjoy connecting with people so this program creates companionship and friendly interactions. She started the program by herself. It was very successful last year. They were able to adopt all the seniors in the Crestwood in 2021. Close to 30 volunteers banded together to make Adopt a Senior happen. Over 60 seniors received Christmas baskets delivered to their homes last year. This year it will be only to people in living facilities. There are plans to go to Sidney Heath Center's Extended Care facility, Crestwood Inn, The Lodge, and Savage Manor. Fox said, "I think that more convenient senior programs are necessary for eastern Montana, because it is such a rural area and with the harsh weather it's sometimes difficult for our seniors to get out of their home for interaction." This year she will be partnering with the Richland County Housing Authority and Volunteers in Action, MT.
Fox is raising money to adopt even more seniors of the community. All the proceeds from Fox's classes through the month of November will be going towards purchasing gifts and wrapping supplies for the Adopt a Senior program. The program is currently only accepting monetary gifts. Those who choose to donate to the program will also receive an invitation to the wrapping party in the beginning of December. If someone cannot get to one of Fox's classes but still wants to donate they can donate through Paypal at http://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8OBnBYSUIG. Fox said, "I truly appreciate everyone's support. Every little bit helps!" For more information on the program or Kayla Fox Wellness' classes contact Fox at 209-263-1336, 406-433-4681, or by email at [email protected].
